SAVAC is pleased to invite you to a screening by artist Michael Rakowitz, to be held on 18 November 2019. In his multidisciplinary artistic practice, Rakowitz meticulously unfolds finished and unfinished narratives. His works, often beginning with family histories shaped by repeated displacements, tunes into the places, people and things that he holds close. Rakowitz reconciles desire and politics – asking tough questions about the role of ethics and integrity in art-making.

In this screening, Michael Rakowitz presents two films that meditate on ventriloquy, surrogates, and solidarity, as seen through the lens of music and museoleogy. Following the screening of the works, Michael Rakowitz will be in conversation with filmmaker and educator John Greyson. Limited seats available, please arrive early.

The screening is part of a three-part program that includes a community dinner (Post Colonial Hot Ones) and studio visits with emerging artists. For more information about the full program, visit: savac.net/recipes-finished-and-unfinished/
